Partnership and Membership
The Colombo Plan
Since its inception in 1973, the Drug Advisory Programme (DAP) of the Colombo Plan continues to address the changing global needs of issues related to substance use and substance use disorders. As a pioneering intergovernmental organisation in drug demand reduction, DAP advocates for the use of evidence-based practices in prevention, treatment and recovery and empowers governments and substance use disorder professionals through provision of technical assistance. DAP continues the partnership concept of self-help and mutual cooperation in its activities. These include the opportunity for contribution and collaboration from government and civil society partners. It aims to empower each partner country to identify its priority needs and seek assistance that is best suited for the country.
NCDI poverty network
The NCDI Poverty Network is a collaboration of national commissions from countries representing the poorest billion as well as their technical, policy, and advocacy partners. The Network supports countries as they implement the recommendations of the Lancet NCDI Poverty Commission to reduce the death and suffering of the poorest people, primarily children and young adults, who live with severe, chronic noncommunicable diseases.
UN DESA
Rooted in the United Nations Charter and guided by the transformative 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development, the UN Department of Economic and Social Affairs (UN DESA) upholds the development pillar of the United Nations.
We bring the global community together to work towards common solutions to the world’s most pressing problems. We help countries translate their global commitments into national action in the economic, social and environmental spheres.
UN DESA is a pioneer of sustainable development and the home of the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), where each goal finds its space and where all stakeholders can do their part to leave no one behind. We are a leading analytical voice for promoting inclusion, reducing inequalities and eradicating poverty, and a champion for tearing down the barriers that keep people in poverty.
UN DESA helps countries make informed decisions by providing a wealth of information through our publications and databases and through our support for international deliberations at the United Nations General Assembly, Economic and Social Council (ECOSOC), Commissions, Forums and other bodies.
Step by step, UN DESA works towards sustainable development for all.
Movendi International
Movendi International is the largest independent global movement for development through alcohol prevention. We unite, strengthen and empower civil society to address alcohol as serious obstacles to development on personal, community, societal and global level.
